The book Environmental Activism in Society presents the experiences and challenges faced by the environmental movement in Portugal in the USA. Issues addressed relate to NGO organization, funding, membership, priority and strategy-setting, and action.This book resulted from a workshop held at the Luso-American Foundation, Portugal, on January 25-26, 1999, joining members of Portuguese and US environmental NGOs.

The book Guadiana Vivo presents and discusses the results of a participatory process developed between 1997-1999 in the municipality of Mértola, Portugal, for the developement of the Master Plan of the Guadiana River Valley Natural Park. The book intends to present the views of the local community regarding the Natural Park and is targeted to expand the ideas of those involved in nature conservancy management and planning (especially institutions and professionals) on how to integrate local development and nature conservancy values.
